Canterbury greenhouse gas emissions inventory

In May of 2023, Environment Canterbury released the Annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Canterbury, 2018 and 2021 report, the first GHG inventory prepared specifically for our region.

The report identifies five sectors where Waitaha/Canterbury's gross emissions come from, how much of our emissions come from each sector, and how we're showing improvement.

It's time, Canterbury | Te Hapū o Ngāti Wheke

The area around Rāpaki Marae, nestled in the beautiful Whakaraupō/Lyttelton Harbour, was once known for its great abundance of kaimoana. Climate change, pollution and deforestation have put that at risk, but a massive amount of community mahi is helping to turn the tide.
